“We are ships at sea not ducks on a pond” – Lawrence Weiner

North Sea and the Med, Greece and Holland, Europe and the World, united through the culture of the sea, are no longer the distant worlds they have been for centuries.
On the occasion of the journey of this exhibition, it’s worth taking a look at this very past we all carry within us in the form of personal ballast.
We managed to build our civilization thanks to the ships and the goods they carried and traded bringing in close proximity vastly different cultures.
The commerce, sea and cultural exchanges transformed us into the persons we are.
Persons who can eventually share goods, concepts and experiences with each other while remaining free of superstitions, exclusions, wars, ignorance, smattering and illiterateness.
