SMCK ON REEL-Grassimesse Leipzig-open call for ukrainian artists

OPEN CALL

The war in Ukraine affects us all. SMCK ON REEL video festival invites eight Ukrainian jewellery artists to show their videos on life, war, faith and art creation in the top jewelry events of Germany: at “Schmuck” jewelry week of Munich  (7-10 July 2022) and during Grassimesse at Grassi Museum Leipzig (20-23 October 2022). 

SMCK ON REEL is proud to present videos by jewellery artists: Serhii Hranievych, Sergey Zhernov, Yurii Plekhanov, Denis Music, Svyatoslav Nikitenko, Tetiana Chorna and Volodymyr Yarmusevich, Vadym Mykolaenko, Lena Yastreb.

Their video themes range from the spiritual experience of cameo engraving to the daily presence of war and death, from the disruption of creativity to the consolidation of one’s own identity, from the social metamorphosis through Covid-19 to the resolution to resist the invasion, from the beauty of Ukranian landscape to ancient rituals to connect with nature.

SMCK ON REEL is free of charge for Ukrainian participants. There is still time to apply for SMCK ON REEL at Grassimesse Leipzig!

The open call adresses Ukrainian artists working in the field of jewelry, applied arts, design or crafts to apply for participation in the second part of the video festival that will take place during Grassimesse (20-24 October) in Grassi Museum Leipzig. 

If you are an Ukrainian artist working in the field of jewellery, ceramics, glas, paper, textile or any other form of crafts and applied arts or design, please send us your video link or mov or mp4 or mpeg4 or m4v (3 minutes maximum) together with a short biography (maximum 120 words) and an artist’s statement to magazine@smck.org

Deadline for submissions is 31 August 2022.
