“Through a mutual friend I met Loukia Richards, when traveling to Athens for the Documenta 14 this summer. We spent two days walking through Athens with her; on pathways parallel to the touristy highways.
Loukia not only has an encyclopaedic knowledge of ancient and modern Greek history, but knows also a lot about Greek folk art.
For me one of the highlights was the visit of Angeliki Hatzimichali (1895-1965) house, a 19th century mansion with an interior created by folk art craftsmen. It shows a small but impressive collection of historic costumes/Greek national dresses. It is a municipal museum which is not promoted much in the tourist guides.
As a person Loukia is a lot of fun. It was a pleasure to spend time with her.
Also due to Loukia ( and her partner Christoph) I fell in love with the city… and am planning to return to Athens as soon as possible.”
